Christmas, the reason for the season, they say...

Updated: Dec 25, 2020

Some fundamental questions I would like to address:

  1. Is Christmas taught in the bible?

  2. Was Jesus Christ’s date of birth celebrated in any shape or form annually?

  3. Did the apostles celebrate Christ’s birth?

  4. Was Jesus born on the 25th of December?

  5. Will “Christmas” and Jesus’ birth be celebrated during the millennium Kingdom to come?

I would like to take you on an insightful journey to investigate these questions, by stating the facts and truth about ‘Christmas’.

Everyone who studies the Word of God and stands faithfully true to what scripture teaches would with confidence and without hesitancy answer “NO” to all these questions above.

Maybe you have not been informed regarding the facts, and truth of what scripture teaches. Maybe you have had these questions as I did many years ago, but I dismissed them…

*Please note this article is not to judge, condemn nor an attack on any person (s) that currently celebrates Christmas. As we are not to judge persons but we are commanded to examine and test whether something is from GOD, whether it honours our true Heavenly Father according to scripture or not. We are to examine the facts that are true and not feelings, as facts do not care about feelings, nor will our feelings change the facts.

Sadly, not everything labelled as “Christian” is truly Christian or from GOD, that is why scripture commanded us to examine doctrine because as the scripture said ‘in the last days’ (NOW) many will fall away from sound doctrine and adopt doctrines of devils.

We should understand that the enemy is not dumb; he does not come to your door or church dressed-up and written devil all over himself and over his doctrines and traditions… scripture says “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves”, he will sound like and look like the sheep, he will be disguised and even “transformed into an angel of light”, MANY will not even recognize him as evil. But thank GOD He called apostles, prophets, evangelist, pastors and teachers to WARN the sheep, to root out, pull down, to destroy, to throw down the things not from GOD and to plant and rebuild what is of GOD as stated in Jeremiah 1:10.

As I stated before, the TRUTH does not care about our feelings, nor does our feelings change the TRUTH.

*I share sound Historical facts from biblical and extra-biblical resources, not my opinion. What you do with the facts is merely your choice.

Truth 1# Jesus Christ was not born on the 25th of December in the year 1 C.E.

A. The scripture does not reveal Jesus’ precise date of birth nor the exact year He was born, however, it is recorded and suggested, it could not have been in the month of *December because at that time when the Angel announced Jesus’ birth to the shepherds of Bethlehem, they were feeding their flocks by night in the open field. Without doubt, the night from December to February is very piercing cold, and it was NOT the custom of the shepherds of Judea to watch their flocks any time later than the end of *October.

B. GILL stated in his commentary “that it appears that Christ must be borne before the middle of October since the first rain was not yet come”

C. In the “Jewish Antiquities” written by Barnes, Doddridge, Lightfoot, Joseph Scaliger and Jennings we read the following “At the birth of Christ every woman and child was to be taxed at the city whereto they belong, whither some had long journeys; but the middle of the winter was not fitting for such a business, especially for a woman with child and children to travel in. Therefore Christ could not be borne in the depth of winter.” We have to even consider the Words of Jesus’ Himself “Pray that your flight be not in the winter” If winter was such a bad time to flee in, it seems not even a fit time for the shepherds to lie in the fields and woman and children to travel in.

D. Joseph A. Fitzmyer–Professor Emeritus of Biblical Studies at the Catholic University of America, member of the Pontifical Biblical Commission, and former president of the Catholic Biblical Association–writing in the Catholic Church’s official commentary on the New Testament, writes about the date of Jesus’ birth, “Though the year [of Jesus birth is not reckoned with certainty, the birth did not occur in AD 1. The Christian era, supposed to have its starting point in the year of Jesus’ birth, is based on a miscalculation introduced ca. 533 by Dionysius Exiguus.” Based on historical records, Fitzmyer guesses that Jesus’ birth occurred on September 11, 3 BCE. [5]

Conclusion: Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ were NOT born on 25th of December, as tradition deceived and betrayed us.

Truth 2# Why did the Romish Church fixate Christmas to be celebrated on the 25th of December?

A. Long before the 4th century, and long before the Christian era itself, a festival was celebrated among the heathen, at that precise time of the year, in honour of the birth of the son of the Babylonian queen of heaven; and it may fairly be presumed that, to conciliate the heathen, and to swell the number of the nominal believers of Christianity, the Roman Church adopted the same festival, allowing it only in the name of Christ. This movement by Christians to meet Paganism half-way was very early established;

B. We find Tertullian, a Christian apologist and called “the father of Latin Christianity “. Even in his day, about the year 230A.D, says, “he who are strangers to Sabbaths, and new moons, and festivals, once acceptable to God, the Saturnalia, the feasts of January, the Brumalia, and Matronalia, are now frequented; gifts are carried back and forth, new year’s day presents are made with din, and sports and banquets are celebrated with uproar; oh, how much more faithful are the heathen to their religion, who take special care to adopt no solemnity from the Christians.”

C. The Romans celebrated a holiday called Saturnalia, a week-long period of lawlessness celebrated between December 17-25. During this period, Roman courts were closed, and Roman law dictated that no one could be punished for damaging property or injuring people during the weeklong celebration. The festival started when Roman authorities chose “an enemy of the Roman people” to represent the “Lord of Misrule.” Each Roman community selected a victim whom they forced to indulge in food and other physical pleasures throughout the week. At the festival’s conclusion, December 25th, Roman authorities believed they were destroying the forces of darkness by brutally murdering this innocent man or woman. History recorded events related to Saturnalia back to 230BC.

D. The poet Lucian of Samosata (AD 120-180) believed in god Cronos (Saturn) He wrote the following about, Saturnalia: “During my week the serious is barred: no business allowed. Drinking and being drunk, noise and games of dice, appointing of kings and feasting of slaves, singing naked, clapping… an occasional ducking of corked faces in icy water–such are the functions over which I preside.”

E. Saturnalia marked a time of human sacrifice, widespread intoxication, torture, rape and sexual parties was a common practice on this day.

F. According to HISTORY TODAY, Saturnalia originated as a farmer’s festival to mark the end of the autumn planting season in honour of Saturn (satus means sowing). During the reign of Emperor Augustus (63 BC-AD 14), it was a two-day affair starting on December 17th. Changes to the Roman calendar moved the climax of Saturnalia to December 25th, around the time of the winter solstice.

G. Emperor Domitian (AD 51-96) has changed Saturnalia’s date to December 25th in an attempt to assert his authority. He curbed Saturnalia’s subversive tendencies by marking it with public events under his control.

H. The conversion of Emperor Constantine to Christianity in AD 312 ended Roman persecution of Christians and began imperial patronage of the Christian churches. But Christianity did not become the Roman Empire’s official religion overnight. Dr David Gwynn, lecturer in ancient and late antique history at Royal Holloway, University of London, says that “alongside Christian and other pagan festivals, the Saturnalia continued to be celebrated in the century afterward.”

I. In 354 A.D. the Roman Catholic Church decided (via Bishop Liberius) to commemorate the same date (25th of December) as the “birth of the Son of God”. It was seen as an attempt to “accommodate” the pagans - their traditions - that were joining their church. The R.C.C began the Mass of Christ “Christ-Mass” where bread and wine were deemed to physically turn into Christ’s body and blood. It effectively means Jesus is being re-crucified again and again.

J. The poet Ambrosius Theodosius Macrobius wrote about Saturnalia, describing a banquet of pagan literary celebrities in Rome during the festival. Classicists date the work to between AD 383 and 430, so it describes that Saturnalia was alive and well under Christian emperors. The Christian calendar of Polemius Silvus, written around AD 449, mentions Saturnalia, recording that “it used to honour the god Saturn”. This shows that saturnalia at that time was just another popular carnival celebrated by both pagans and Roman Christians.

K. Saturnalia has a rival contender as the forerunner of Christmas: the festival of dies Natalis Solis Invicti, ‘birthday of the unconquered sun’. The ‘Philocalian’ calendar also states that December 25th was a Roman civil holiday honouring the cult of ‘Sol Invicta’. With its origins in Syria and the monotheistic cult of Mithras, ‘sol Invicta’ certainly has similarities to the worship of Jesus. The cult was introduced into the empire in AD 274 by Emperor Aurelian (214-275), who effectively made it a state religion, putting its emblem on Roman coins. {picture of coin}

L. Sol Invicta succeeded because of its ability to blend in aspects of Jupiter and other deities into its figure of the Sun god, expressing the absolute power of divine emperors. But despite efforts by later pagan emperors to control Saturnalia and absorb the festival into the official cult, the sol Invicta ended up looking very much like the old Saturnalia. Constantine, the first ‘Christian’ emperor, was brought up in the sol Invicta cult, in what was by then already a predominantly monotheist empire: ‘It is therefore possible,’ says Dr Gwynn, “that Christmas was intended to replace this festival rather than Saturnalia.”

M. In the 4th century CE, Christianity imported the Saturnalia festival hoping to take the pagan masses in with it. Christian leaders converted large numbers of pagans to Christianity by promising them that they could continue to celebrate the Saturnalia as Christians. The issue was that there was nothing intrinsically Christian about Saturnalia. To justify this, these Christian leaders named Saturnalia’s closing day, December 25th, to be Jesus’ birthday.

N. Christians had little success, however, refining the practices of Saturnalia. As Stephen Nissenbaum, professor of history at the University of Massachusetts, writes, “In return for ensuring massive observance of the anniversary of the Savior’s birth by assigning it to this profound date, the Church for its part tacitly agreed to allow the holiday to be celebrated more or less the way it had always been.” The earliest Christmas holidays were celebrated by drinking, sexual indulgence, singing naked in the streets (a precursor of modern carolling), etc. Sounds very Christ-like to me, right?

O. Increase Mather of Boston observed in 1687 that “the early Christians who first observed the Nativity on December 25 did not do so thinking that Christ was born in that Month, but because the Heathens’ Saturnalia was at that time kept in Rome, and they were willing to have those Pagan Holidays transmuted into Christian ones.”

P. Because of its well-known pagan origin, Christmas was banned by the ‘Puritans’ and its observance was illegal in Massachusetts between 1659 and 1681. However, Christmas was and still is celebrated by most Christians.

**The Puritans were English Protestants in the 16th and 17th centuries who sought to purify the Church of England of Roman Catholic practices, maintaining that the Church of England had not been fully reformed and should become more Protestant. []

Q. Some of the most wicked customs of the Saturnalia festival were intentionally revived by the Catholic Church in 1466 when Pope Paul II, for the amusement of his Roman citizens, forced Jews to race naked through the streets of the city. An eyewitness account reports, “Before they were to run, the Jews were richly fed, so as to make the race more difficult for them and at the same time more amusing for spectators. They ran… amid Rome’s taunting shrieks and peals of laughter, while the Holy Father stood upon a richly ornamented balcony and laughed heartily.”

R. As part of the Saturnalia festival throughout the 18th and 19th centuries CE, Rabbis of the ghetto in Rome were forced to wear clownish outfits and march through the city streets to the jeers of the crowd, pelted by a variety of missiles. When the Jewish community of Rome sent a petition in 1836 to Pope Gregory XVI begging him to stop the annual Saturnalia abuse of the Jewish community, he responded, “It is not opportune to make any innovation.” On December 25, 1881, Christian leaders whipped the Polish masses into Antisemitic frenzies that led to riots across the country. In Warsaw 12 Jews were brutally murdered, huge numbers maimed, and many Jewish women were raped. Two million rubles worth of property was destroyed.

S. The fact that Christmas was originally a Pagan festival is beyond all doubt. The time of the year, and the ceremonies with which it is still celebrated, prove its origin. In Egypt, the son of Isis, the Egyptian title for the queen of heaven, was born at this very time, “about the time of the winter solstice.” The very name by which we popularly know Christmas among ourselves—Yule-day — proves at once it’s Pagan and Babylonian origin. “Yule” is the Chaldee name for an “infant” or “little child”; * and as the 25th of December was called by our Pagan Anglo-Saxon ancestors, “Yule-day,” or the “Child’s day,” and the night that preceded it, “Mother- night,” long before they came in contact with Christianity, that sufficiently proves its real character. Far and wide, in the realms of Paganism, was this birth-day observed. This festival has been commonly believed to have had only an astronomical character, referring simply to the completion of the sun’s yearly course, and the commencement of a new cycle.

T. Among the Sabeans of Arabia, who regarded the moon, and not the sun, as the visible symbol of the favourite object of their idolatry, the same period was observed as the birth festival. Thus we read in Stanley’s Sabean Philosophy: “On the 24th of the tenth month,” that is December, according to our reckoning, “the Arabians celebrated the BIRTHDAY OF THE LORD-that is the Moon.” Lord Moon was the great object of Arabian worship, and that Lord Moon, according to them, was born on the 24th of December, which clearly shows that the birth which they celebrated had no necessary connection with the course of the sun. It is worthy of special note, too, that if Christmas-day among the ancient Saxons of this island, was observed to celebrate the birth of any Lord of the host of heaven, the case must have been precisely the same here as it was in Arabia. The Saxons, as is well known, regarded the Sun as a female divinity, and the Moon as a male.

U. Even where the sun was the favourite object of worship, as in Babylon itself and elsewhere, at this festival, he was worshipped not merely as the orb of day, but as God incarnate. It was an essential principle of the Babylonian system, that the Sun or Baal was the one only God. When, therefore, Tammuz was worshipped as God incarnate, that implied also that he was an incarnation of the Sun.

V. According to “By the fourth century A.D., Western Christian churches settled on celebrating Christmas on December 25, which allowed them to incorporate the holiday with Saturnalia and other popular pagan midwinter traditions.”

Scripture is clear: “Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen...” (Jeremiah 10:2)

“Rome’s way of converting the other pagans to her style of worship has always been to absorb them gradually, ALONG WITH THEIR IDOLTAROUS OBSERVANCES. So about the 4th Century of Roman Church brought the worship of Semiramis, the Babylonian queen of heaven and her son Tammuz into her ritual, DISGUISED AS the worship of Mary and her son Jesus. Then followed the December 25th commemoration of the birth of Christ, and the evil institution of “mass” for Christ, and behold! — the iniquity of Christmas was launched forth!” (The truth about Christmas)

“Thus the PAGANS in the now apostate Church could worship the queen of heaven and observe the birth of her son Tammuz while the untaught unsuspecting believers thought they were honouring Christ in the same ritual. Behold the trail of satan’s Christmas festive ritual of counterfeit!” (The truth about Christmas)

According to the truth and facts discovered we can with sad confidence say Christmas is a lie; According to John 14:6, Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life, how can we believe the lies and celebrate, honour and observe them if Jesus is the truth? According to Jesus Christ, Satan is the father of lies. If we believe and continue to celebrate these lies, who do we honour? Jesus Christ who is standing for the truth and only the truth, and Satan as the father of lies because he hath only lied from the beginning, who inspired Christmas? Jesus Christ or Satan, the father of lies?

“Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart. My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God.” (Hosea 4:11-12)

Let us see what does scripture say :

“They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them: But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works. And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.” (Psalms 106:34-36)

For a very long time we have walked in the enemy’s snare, even his snare became part of our lives now. We don’t even notice the snare unless the veil is removed from our eyes to see the truth.

“Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, I am the LORD your God. After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances. Ye shall do my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk therein: I am the LORD your God. Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the LORD.” (Leviticus 18:2-5)

God is clear we should not walk in their ordinances neither their doings BUT do God’s judgments and keep God’s ordinances and to walk in them.

Customs related to Christmas:

Most of the popular Christmas customs - including Christmas trees, mistletoe, Christmas presents, and Santa Claus - are modern incarnations of some extremely offensive and violent rituals.

Austine Cline wrote,

“The most central and recognized symbol of Christmas today is the Christmas tree - and has NOTHING to do with Christianity, Christ, or Jesus. It’s Purely a pagan symbol taken from ancient German mid-winter festivals. Even if people hang religious ornaments on the tree, the hanging of ornaments is originally PAGAN, not Christian. The practices of cutting down trees and taking them home to decorate them with gold and silver is even condemned by GOD in the book of Jeremiah.”

Few people know that the “Christmas tree” and “father Christmas” are, in fact, idols and that Christmas with all its customs comes from a heathen festival and in so many cases we are ignorant of the truth.

Fact 1# Christmas tree :

A. Just as early Christians recruited Roman pagans by associating Christmas with the Saturnalia, so too worshippers of the Asheira cult and its offshoots were recruited by the Church sanctioning “Christmas Trees”.

B. Pagans had long worshipped trees in the forest, or brought them into their homes and decorated them, and this observance was adopted and painted with a Christian coat by the Church.

C. Babylonians believed “… evergreen tree which sprung out of a dead stump. The old stump symbolized the dead Nimrod, the new evergreen tree symbolized that Nimrod had come to life again in Tammuz!”

D. The Christmas tree, now so common among us, was equally common in Pagan Rome, Pagan Egypt and among the Druids the oak was sacred. In Egypt, that tree was the palm-tree; in Rome, it was the fir; the palm-tree denoting the Pagan Messiah as Baal-Tamar, the fir referring to him as Baal-Berith. The mother of Adonis, the Sun-God and great mediatorial divinity, was mystically said to have been changed into a tree, and when in that state to have brought forth her divine son. The tree was also decorated with red berries during Saturnalia!”

E. The Christmas-tree, as has been stated, was generally at Rome a different tree, even the fir; but the very same idea as was implied in the palm-tree was implied in the Christmas- fir; for that covertly symbolised the newborn God as Baal-Berith

“Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.” (Jeremiah 10:2-4)

Without doubt, Jeremiah 10 confirms that the so-called “Christmas tree” is the symbol of an idol which has already been used for thousands of years by heathen nations in their religion. Take a good look. It is a tree which is cut down, given a base for support and is then decorated with silver and gold. Does it sound familiar?

Fact 2# Christmas lights and candles

A. The candles, in some parts of England, lighted on Christmas-eve, and used so long as the festive season lasts, were equally lighted by the Pagans on the eve of the festival of the Babylonian god, to do honour to him: for it was one of the distinguishing peculiarities of his worship to have lighted wax- candles on his altars.

B. a Pagan from eastern Indiana, says, “I use the god and goddess candles not just to symbolize the deities of my path, but also to invite them in. By utilizing the candles, it’s my way of letting the god and goddess know that they are welcomed and valued in my sacred space. It seems like a little thing, but to me it’s very important.” [13]

C. In some forms of modern Paganism, including but not limited to Wicca and NeoWicca, practitioners may choose to use something called a god or goddess candle on their altar during magical workings and rituals. The purpose of these candles is a simple one - they represent the deities of the individual’s belief system.

D. In Wicca and related forms of Paganism, the candle is frequently used on the altar to represent the presence of the god and goddess, and in the four corners of a ritual circle to represent the presence of the four classical elements: Fire, Earth, Air, and Water. [14]

*Lights and candles seem like very innocent decoration during the Christmas season, but are they truly innocent?

Fact 3# Mistletoe

A. The Christian custom of “kissing under the mistletoe” is a recent synthesis of the sexual license of Saturnalia with the Druidic sacrificial cult.

B. It was also deemed to be “holy” by the Druid priests and was used by them to cast magic spells over people.

C. It was held over a woman’s head to render her powerless and then have sex with her.

D. A mistletoe with berries was deemed to be even stronger because it symbolized the virginity of the woman that was taken away.

E. Norse mythology recounts how the god Balder was killed using a mistletoe arrow by his rival god Hoder while fighting for the female Nanna.

F. Thus by the engrafting of the celestial branch into the earthly tree, heaven and earth, that sin had severed, were joined together, and thus the mistletoe bough became the token of Divine reconciliation to man, the kiss being the well-known token of pardon and reconciliation.

G. These ancient people believed mistletoe could cure diseases, make animals and humans more fertile, provide protection from witches, and bring good luck. In fact, mistletoe was so sacred to the Druids that if two enemies met beneath a tree on which it was growing, they would lay down their weapons, exchange greetings, and observe a truce until the following day! [32]

H. The ancient Celts believed mistletoe to be a gift from the gods, as it is a plant that does not grow in the earth. Furthermore, it remains green throughout the year, producing pure white berries right before the winter solstice, which makes it very unique for the season. Right after the winter solstice, a Druid priest would use a golden sickle to cut the plant to be used for protection, increased fertility, and, despite it being poisonous, so heal diseases. It was never allowed to touch the ground whereby it would lose its power. Druid in their rituals uses mistletoe to poison their human sacrificial victim.

I. It was also believed to “Hang mistletoe wherever you wish to safeguard against lightning, disease, fires, or misfortune. It can also be hung in cradles to protect children from being stolen away by fairies in the night. Ironworks well, too. If you wish to increase hunting success or fertility, carry it in your pocket. Burn it to banish evil.”

J. Mistletoe can be used in several spells including: Fertility Magic, Love Spells, Banishing Spells, Protection Magic [15]

K. Kissing under the mistletoe may have begun with the Greeks’ Kronia agricultural festival. Its Roman successor, the Saturnalia, combined licentious behaviour with mistletoe. The naturalist Pliny the Elder, who died in A.D. 79, noticed to his surprise that mistletoe was just as sacred, if not more, to the Druids of Gaul. Its growth on certain oak trees, which the Druids believed to possess magical powers, spurred them to use mistletoe in ritual sacrifices and medicinal potions to cure ailments such as infertility [16]

The mistletoe is an object of witchcraft and sorcery, which GOD condemns. Should we follow these customs God hates?

“”When you come into the land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the LORD, and because of these abominations the LORD your God drives them out from before you. You shall be blameless before the LORD your God.” (Deuteronomy 18:9-13, NKJV)

Fact 4# Christmas presents:

A. Instead of working, Romans spent Saturnalia gambling, singing, playing music, feasting, socializing and giving each other gifts. Wax taper candles called cerei were common gifts during Saturnalia, to signify light returning after the solstice. On the last day of Saturnalia (25th December) celebrations, known as the Sigillaria, many Romans gave their friends and loved one’s small terracotta figurines known as signillaria, which may have referred back to older celebrations involving human sacrifice. [17]

B. In pre-Christian Rome, the emperors compelled their most despised citizens to bring offerings and gifts during the Saturnalia (in December) and Kalends (in January). Later, this ritual expanded to include gift-giving among the general populace. The Catholic Church gave this custom a Christian flavor by re-rooting it in the supposed gift-giving of Saint Nicholas (see below).

C. “... presents were given to children and the poor. Concerning the gift candles, the Romans had a story that an old prophecy bade the earliest inhabitants of Latium send heads to Hades and phota to Saturn. The ancient Latins interpreted this to mean human sacrifices [18]

I personally used to believe the reason we give gifts was that we cannot give them to Jesus. The reason Jesus received gifts was for a totally different reason. The gold, frankincense, and myrrh represented a prothetic symbol, namely the GOLD declare Jesus is KING; The frankincense declares Jesus the anointed One who deserves to be worshipped; Myrrh because Jesus will die for the sin of the world. The custom to give gifts to each other does not come from the nativity scene of Jesus’ birth.

Dr. J. Vernon McGee makes this comment about the three gifts. “Gold speaks of His birth. He is born a King. Frankincense speaks of the fragrance of His life. Myrrh speaks of His death. All of this is indicated in the gifts that were brought to Him at His first coming.”

Fact 5# Santa Claus:

I know that “father Christmas” is an idol in many countries, as children believe in him just as much as we believe in the GOD the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Some refer to him as Nicholas, who was born in Parara, Turkey in 270 CE, and later became Bishop of Myra. He died in 345 CE on December 6th. They only named him a saint in the 19th century.

Nicholas was among the most senior bishops who convened the Council of Nicaea in 325 CE and created the New Testament. The text they produced portrayed Jews as “the children of the devil”

Even though Nicolas was an actual person, but where does “father Christmas” or “Santa Claus” really come from?

Tiaan Gildenhuys wrote: [3]

From the following scriptures, we shall see that Satan tried to carry out his plan–to be like God – as “father Christmas”.

In the occult, we get something which is called an “anagram”. An “anagram” is a “rearranging of letters”, in other words, some letters of certain words are changed around to give it a hidden, or different meaning. So we find that “santa claus” in the occult means “satan lucas”. “Lucas” or “lucis” in its turn is a “New Age anagram” for “Lucifer”, which means that “santa claus” is, in effect, an “anagram” for “satan lucifer”.

Where did I get this from? I just read the Bible.

In Isaiah 14:12-14 we read:

“How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou has said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.”

Here we see clearly that Satan’s fall was caused because he wanted to be “like the most High”.

Let’s see whether he succeeded in carrying out his plan in the form of an “innocent” old “father christmas”.

# Let’s start with Matthew 23:9 where the Bible stipulates: “And call NO MAN YOUR FATHER upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.” Yet we all call him “Father Christmas”.

# In Revelation 1:14 we read what JESUS’ hair and beard look like: “His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow...” And guess whose hair and beard are also “... white like wool, as white as snow...”? Nobody else than “Santa Claus”!

# We also read in Isaiah 63:2 that JESUS wears red clothes: “Wherefore art thou RED in thine apparel...” Who also wears RED clothes, has white hair and a white beard? “Santa Claus”! Remember, satan’s plan has always been “to be like the most High”.

# In Mark 6:3 we read that JESUS was a carpenter: “Is not this the carpenter...” And anyone who knows something about the background of “santa claus”, will know that he is, COINCIDENTALLY, also a carpenter, because he and his elves (remember where they come from) make traditional wooden toys for small children.

# In Ezekiel 8:14 we read that the Lord’s temple is situated on the NORTHERN SIDE: “...the LORD’S house which was toward the north...” Everyone knows that the “house” of “santa claus” is at the NORTH pole. Why not the South Pole?

# Deuteronomy 33:26 stipulates that God is the one who moves through the heavens: “There is none like unto the God of Jeshurun, who rideth upon the heaven in thy help, and in his excellency on the sky.” Strangely enough “santa claus” also moves through the skies on his sleigh in the wink of an eye ... just like God…

# And then comes the scripture which is the last nail in the coffin as far as I’m concerned. This scripture you will only find in the old King James Version Holy Bible as confirmation:

” Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north saith the LORD: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the LORD.” (Zechariah 2:6)

Strangely enough, I have always wondered why “santa claus” uses the specific words “HO, HO, HO...” Why doesn’t he say “ha, ha, ha”; “He, he, he” or “Hee, hee, hee”? The answer is clearly to be found in Zechariah 2:6 which I have just quoted. Remember, satan said he wants to be: “like the most High”. He even physically uses the Lord’s own words!

# “I said, O my God,... THY years are throughout all generations.” (Psalms 102:24). This verse of scripture refers to the fact that the Lord has no age, but has existed from generation to generation to generation. Exactly the same is applicable to “santa claus”. He has no specific age either but just goes on from generation to generation to generation.

# “I will pour out my spirit unto you...” (Proverbs 1:23). This scripture refers to the Holy Spirit who was to be poured out on God’s children. The interesting thing to see is that “santa claus” also has his own “spirits”. If you look at the films which are shown on TV during “Christmas time” you will hear them speaking about “the spirit of Christmas past” or: “the spirit of Christmas present”...What does this refer to? To nothing else but satan’s evil spirits.

# “Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.” (Psalms 34:11). This scripture teaches us to rear our children in the fear of the Lord. But instead of this, we sing the following songs to our children: “You’d better be good, you’d better be nice, ‘cause santa knows who’s naughty or nice...” So, we teach our children that if they’re going to be naughty, then “santa claus” won’t bring them any toys, so we are, in effect, teaching them the fear of “santa claus”!

# “When the Son of man shall come in his glory...then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory..." (Matthew 25:31). Here we read that Jesus shall sit on His throne. But who, “incidentally” also sits on his throne each Christmas season? Nobody else than “santa claus”! And what does he do on that throne?

# “And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them:... But... Jesus... said unto them, Suffer (allow) the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.” (Mark 10:13,14) What does “santa claus” do? He also sits on his throne and he says: “Bring the children to me!”

# “And many believed on him...” (John 10:42). This scripture refers to many people who have believed in Jesus. In the same way, we get thousands of little children who really believe in “santa claus”, because their parents have taught them to believe this.

Now we get testimonies of teens who refuse to believe in Jesus Christ. And when questioned why they don’t believe, they say: “I really believed in “Santa Claus” when I was a small boy. My dad taught me about “santa claus” and I believed my dad unconditionally. Then, one day, I found out that my dad had been lying to me and that “santa claus” doesn’t really exist. I was terribly hurt by this. Afterwards, my dad came to me and told me to believe in Jesus Christ. Then I said to him: “Dad, if I couldn’t believe you about “santa claus”, how can I believe you about Jesus Christ?” And another child is drawn away from the truth–and maybe eternally lost–just because he was taught a LIE when he was small.

# The Bible teaches that we must all look forward with expectancy to the return of Jesus Christ. “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:13). However, in contrast to this we find thousands of children inside or outside their homes on “Christmas eve” waiting for “santa claus” and his sleigh which is pulled by his reindeer: “Jingle bells, jingle bells...” or “Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer...”

” Santa Claus” is in fact mocking our Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.

“Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise. Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods. What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.” (Deuteronomy 12:30-32)

Are we guilty of following the traditions of other god’s? Are we guilty of serving Jesus Christ our LORD the same way that the heathens used to worship their god’s? Frankly, it is evident we are all guilty of such an offence, an offence our Lord and Saviour hate. We are commanded NOT to worship the LORD our God in the same way, shape or form as the heathens worshipped their gods.

Fact 6# Traditional of food over Christmas

A. Pork was the most favourite Roman meat, and in the words of the poet Martial, “a pig will make you a good Saturnalia.” Alive pigs and pork sausage were given as gifts during Saturnalia, and pigs were the traditional sacrifice offered to Saturn and other “chthonic” deities (gods of the earth and Underworld).

B. Hence the pig’s head is still a standing dish in England at the Christmas dinner, when the reason for it is long since forgotten. Yea, the “Christmas goose/turkey” and “Yule cakes” were essential articles in the worship of the Babylonian Messiah, as that worship was practised both in Egypt and at Rome. Wilkinson, regarding Egypt, shows that “the favourite offering” of Osiris was “a goose”

C. It is known that ancient Greeks sacrificed pigs to Demeter, greek goddess of agriculture and fertility, to her daughter Persephone and the chthonic deities. Why? Partly because of the special powers attributed to pigs on account of their association with fertility and abundance of flesh and blood. Like a large part of the ancient Greek worshipping system which had been transformed and survived within Christianity–f.i. the hero and heroine cult, the honour paid to the dead etc.- conceptions, faiths, rituals and the strong tradition of animal sacrifice transformed too. Killing and butchering are always done by the men who first make the sign of the cross on the pig’s head, but it is always the women who make sausages, cure and smoke bones, meat, fat, cook, etc. Some blood is poured on the fields or on the animals to ensure fertility and prosper through sympathetic magic.[19]

D. Attis, Tammuz and Adonis were all killed by pigs ( a pig, in fact, ripped open a tree so Adonis could be born). Pigs were sacrificed by the ancient Egyptians once a year during the full moon to honour Osiris. [20]

Scripture is very clear regarding what animals are clean and fit for human consumption and what animals are unclean and should not be consumed in our diet. Scripture also reveals to offer unclean meat to God is an abomination to Him.
