Meditate on the Word of GOD

Shabbat Shalom brothers and sisters in Yeshua Messiah, Jesus Christ,

'All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for (1)doctrine, for (2)reproof, for (3)correction, for (4)instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.' - 2 Timothy 3:16-17

When Paul was writing these words to Timothy he was referring to the written Word of God, at that time there was no new testament yet because it was still in the process of being written, so these scripture mentioned was referred to what we know as the Old Testament but mostly referring to the Torah (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy) since the Torah is the direct instruction for life from our Father YHVH.

It was first given by Father GOD YHVH, profitable for:

1. Doctrine (Greek Word: διδασκαλία; didaskalia)

a. Teaching; Instruction and Learning.

2. Reproof (Greek Word: ἔλεγχος; elegchos)

a. To Proof, that by which a thing is proven or tested.

b. Conviction

c. Discernment – To judge between right and wrong, good and evil.

d. Evidence

3. Correction (Greek Word: ἐπανόρθωσις; epanorthōsis)

a. Rectification - To correct something that is wrong.

b. Restoration – To restore and build up again.

c. Improvement: of life or character

4. Instruction in righteousness (Greek Word: παιδεία; paideia)

a. Training and education

b. By implication disciplinary correction

c. Chastisement

d. Instructing

e. Nurture

f. Correcting mistakes

Why was it given?

1. That man of God (us) may be perfect;

2. And furnished unto ALL good works;

We can see that Abba Father's idea and purpose of His scripture, His Torah (Instructions) is given to us to help, benefit and comfort us for our good that we might have hope.

'For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. ' - Romans 15:4

It is possible to know scripture without knowing the author of scripture, that is called vain religion.

Abba Father's heart is relationship. He desires a daily walk with us because He loves us, and His will is not that anyone should perish but have everlasting life. His Word is His way of learning about Him, His character, His heart, and His will. Building an intimate relationship with Him. Just as King David’s life is a great example of a daily walk with the Father and how he devoted his time to Abba Father and His Word. He praised Abba Father daily and he meditated on His Word continually.

When you read Psalm 119 (the longest chapter and psalm in the Bible) you will realize how King David loved Abba Father’s Word/Law (Torah - Instruction). King David’s joy, delight, and contentment was totally in the Law of GOD; His Testimonies; His Word; His commandments; His Statutes; His precepts and His judgments; King David exalted the scripture and treasured his relationship with God in all fear.

Just as it is written: 'I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. ' - Psalms 138:2

Our Father has magnified and exalted His Word above His Name, this displays the significance and value Father has placed on His Word. How much more should we value the importance of His Word in our daily lives?

Abba Father desire us to meditate on His Word daily, that is one of the forms to tabernacle(dwell) with I AM (Him). So that He can wash us with His Word. Give us our daily Bread. He does not only recommend us to meditate on His Word, but He instructs us to do so for our own good that we may be prosperous and have good success.

'This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. ' Joshua 1:8

Father God knows that if we do not know His Word, listen or harken unto His voice that we will fall and stumble. We will fall into error and fall back into the bondage of which He freed us from.

'My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. ' - Hosea 4:6

'Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. ' - Matthew 22:29

This word “err” in Matt 22:29 meaning from Greek is:

1. Cause to stray.

2. Lead astray.

3. Lead aside from the right way.

4. Lead away from the truth.

5. To be led into error.

6. To be deceived.

7. To fall away from the truth.

8. To be led into error and sin.

This shall all happen due to not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God. The scriptures mentioned here by Jesus Himself is again referring to the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible) containing the Torah, Prophets, and Writings which is namely the Old Testament in our Bible.

Let us therefore return to Abba Father, to His Word, to Listen and Obey His voice. To obey His Word not only in word or speech but in deed and in truth. Faith without works is dead and vain, so let us demonstrate our faith by our works according to what is written. Let us therefore purify ourselves with obedience to Him through the Spirit. We are called to be separated from all other nations, separated from the World. Not to be fashioned or equal to them but to fashion yourself to Christ, His character, His will and His heart. To be Holy as He is Holy.

'As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. ' - 1 Peter 1:14-16,22-23,22-23

May our Father bless thee, sanctify thee, uphold thee, deliver thee and guide thee in all Truth.

May He reveal the secrets of scripture to you by His grace.

May He bless thee with wisdom, knowledge, understanding and lovingkindness.

Mercy, peace, and love be

multiplied to you,
